Overview

Eligibility, client groups and vessel lists

About this Fishery
The Cooperative OP Bivalvia Veneto harvest striped clams in the Northern Adriatic Sea.
The cooperative consists of 58 vessels in the district of Venice and 53 from Chioggia. Clams are harvested using hydraulic dredges. Current catch is around 3000 - 3500 tons per year.
The fishery is a 'catch and grow' operation, eligible for assessment as an enhanced fishery.
Market Information
The target market is currently Italian. There is great interest from foreign companies for MSC certified clams, so the market may grow if the fishery is certified.
